  • Supporting the transformation of gas transmission and distribution networks induced by the integration of renewable and low-carbon energies
  • Prepare the multi-energy coupling (gas, electricity, heat) that has become necessary for the energy transition, in particular through intelligent and dynamic management
  • Take full account of the synergies between gas, electricity and heat in tomorrow’s energy mix
  • Integrate economic, political, technological and climatic uncertainties into investment trajectories, on the one hand to obtain a mix that is more resilient to change, and on the other hand to better estimate flexibility needs
  • Improve the operational and economic performance of network management
Major challenges
  • Smart grid
  • Dynamic network modelling
  • Reverse
  • Multi-energy
  • Prospective network modelling
  • Future energy mix
  • Optimization of the dimensioning
    and infrastructure management
  • Integrate new gases into network management and sizing tools, and develop new prototypes and mathematical models
  • Develop backward stations to optimize biomethane injections into the networks
  • Have an overview of network changes
  • Carrying out multi-energy prospective studies for the year 2050
Key drivers
Looking ahead to 2030
  • Adaptation of mathematical models to the arrival of new gases. Changes in the operational use of software used by GRTgaz’s national dispatching system
  • Proposal for joint optimization of intraday flexibility management (in-line inventory) and operating costs
  • Adapting agile network management methods
  • Develop a local data exchange platform to optimize management (production forecasts, consumption, maintenance)
  • Optimization of the design of the backward stations. Analyze and test new solutions (gas-gas or gas-electricity)
  • Construction of multi-sector demand scenarios to feed prospective studies. Carrying out multi-energy prospective studies up to 2050
